9 Day Coach Holiday

Captivating Cornwall forms a peninsula on England’s southwestern point featuring hundreds of sandy beaches alongside quaint fishing villages and you’ll have plenty of time to explore on this nine day holiday. Based in fabulous Newquay, the jewel in Cornwall’s crown, surfing capital of England and home to golden sands and a picturesque marina. Relax at the water’s edge or embark on a sea safari, cruising hidden coves while dolphin spotting. Enjoy a nostalgic trip on the Lappa Valley steam railway or be amazed at the Blue Reef Aquarium watching sharks and octopuses from an underwater tunnel. Don’t miss Trenance Leisure Park with its crazy golf, miniature railway and Newquay Zoo, home to endangered animals. The promenade behind the harbour leads you into the town centre where you’ll find gift shops, cafes, and surf stores. Trenance Gardens is a hidden delight with colourful flowers, backed by ancient trees. Nearby, you’ll find a pleasant lake where you can hire a pedal boat or feed the ducks. Perhaps head to the National Trust’s Trerice House - an Elizabethan manor with fine interiors, formal gardens and a lovely tearoom. We venture out to discover the maritime town of Falmouth and historic Truro, Cornwall’s only city. We also call at the pretty port of St Ives and Land’s End, as well as visiting Cornwall’s Army Museum where history is portrayed through 12,000 fascinating artefact.

Your Excursions

Falmouth & Truro
Falmouth is steeped in maritime history and home to the world’s third largest deep water harbour. The town has inspired countless artists, sailors, explorers and musicians. Near the entrance to Falmouth Docks you’ll find the lifeboat station where guides are happy to give you a tour of their boats and explain the activities of the RNLI. Above it, on a headland, is imposing Pendennis Castle, built on the orders of Henry VIII to defend this important harbour. This original Tudor keep features a round tower, underground passageways and a WWII battery. Perhaps visit the National Maritime Museum Cornwall with its twelve interactive galleries and a flotilla of model boats. We continue to Truro, Cornwall’s only city and home to a stunning gothic revival cathedral with three soaring spires that dominate the skyline. Its south aisle is what remains of St Mary’s Church and is said to be one of the finest pieces of medieval architecture in Cornwall. Inside its grand walls, you’ll find a treasure trove of stained glass.
St Ives & Land’s End
We head to St Ives where you might like to meander through the narrow streets, relax in a pavement café or watch the world go by from the harbour. Land’s End features wave battered cliffs towering over churning seas and gives views as far as the Scilly Isles on a clear day.
Cornwall’s Army Museum & Bodmin
This military museum is set within Grade II listed Bodmin Keep, a stronghold constructed during the Napoleonic threat where original fireplaces and stone staircases remain. Here you’ll be amazed by the fine collection of medals, weapons, uniforms, paintings and artefacts, telling the story of the Duke of Cornwall’s Light Infantry. Afterwards, free time in Bodmin where you might like to visit the scary Bodmin Jail attraction or experience the era of steam travel at the town’s heritage railway.
