Buxton & Bakewell
The Peak District gem of Buxton is a spa town with landmarks such as Solomon’s Temple, the Grade I listed Crescent, the Devonshire Dome and Poole’s Cavern – a two-million-year-old limestone cave. We continue to the market town of Bakewell, home to grand period houses and the eponymous tart.
Eyam Village & Guided tour of Chatsworth House
The picturesque Peak District village of Eyam is dedicated to the memory of those who died from the Black Death around 1666 - see the historic church, stocks, Eyam Hall and Rose Cottage. We continue to Chatsworth House, home to the Cavendish family since the sixteenth century and the jewel in the crown of the Peak District. Here our guided tour takes in rooms such as the glorious Painted Hall, Imperial State Rooms and the striking Sculpture Gallery, all filled with lavish furnishings and notable art collections. Outside, there are over a hundred acres of Capability Brown designed, formal gardens with water features, rock gardens, sensory trails and a tricky maze.
Matlock & Crich Tramway Village
First up is a visit to Matlock, where you’ll find streets full of independent shops, cafes and pubs as well as Hall Leys Park with its boating lake and riverside walks. From here, we head to Crich Tramway Village for a journey through time aboard a vintage tram amid the evocative setting of a nostalgic street from a bygone era. This captivating tram ride also takes you out into open countryside to enjoy lovely views. Afterwards, stretch your legs with a stroll around the scenic sculpture trail, explore the interesting exhibitions and visit the attraction’s unique Red Lion Pub, tearoom and shops.
