Scarborough is a pretty resort with two sandy bays split by a headland bearing a medieval castle, and a Victorian funicular train linking the centre with the bay and harbour. Explore Peasholm Park, with its Japanese gardens and boating lake, take a trip on the North Bay Miniature Railway or use the open top buses to see the sights. Treats include a day in the walled City of York, a storybook metropolis with a Gothic minster, castle and Viking museum. We also visit Bridlington, home to a quaint old town that featured in the Dad’s Army movie. Later we continue to lively Filey. Our base is the refurbished Britannia Grand Hotel, which overlooks Scarborough’s harbour and South Bay, and has entertainment in its spacious ballroom.
