Day One. We head to Strathpeffer and check into the Highland Hotel for three nights. 

Day Two. Inverness today, for time at leisure. Attractions include a riverside castle, gothic cathedral and the Ness Islands bridge linked walkways.

Day Three. We call at Drumnadrochit, a village popular with monster hunters and where you might like to learn about Nessie at the Loch Ness Centre & Exhibition. We continue to Urquhart Castle to uncover a thousand years of history and delight in stunning views over Loch Ness. Climb the tower, inspect the dismal cell, view the grand hall or have a cuppa in the café. Free time in Strathpeffer in the afternoon. Perhaps visit the Highland Museum of Childhood, set in an old railway station and housing artefacts depicting life growing up in the Highlands. 

Day Four. We check out then head north on the famous NC500, stopping in the Viking settlement of Wick for free time to perhaps visit the heritage centre where the story of the town unfolds. We then check into the Castletown Hotel for two nights.

Day Five. We start our day with Mary Ann’s Cottage – an intriguing time capsule and an insight into 150 years of crofting life. Afterwards, it’s Dunnet Bay Distillery for an award-winning tour & taste before receiving a goody bag with lip-smacking samples! Afterwards, John O’Groats for free time to visit the heritage centre or snap a photo at 
the landmark signpost. 

Day Six. We check out and continue with the next leg of our NC500. Look forward to stunning photo opportunities as we take in the remote coastal settlements of Tongue and Durness as well as historic Ullapool. Then it’s onwards to the Gairloch Hotel where we check in for three nights. 

Day Seven. We’re off to Inverewe Gardens this morning, a lush oasis on the shores of Loch Ewe. Dating from the nineteenth century, the gardens have been created over time and feature exotic plants. Inverewe House stands at its heart and has an intriguing history. We move on to Poolewe – a tiny hamlet in a stunning setting. 

Day Eight. A free day to enjoy pretty Gairloch - we include entry to the local museum which is housed in a converted nuclear bunker and showcases local history, culture and heritage. 

Day Nine. Time to check out and make our way to Pitlochry for some free time before heading home.
