The Victorian town of Llandrindod Wells makes a charming base for our thrilling train-themed itinerary. We wind our way into the Brecon Beacons National Park where we board the Brecon Mountain Railway and enjoy stunning views as our train steams along the Taf Fechan Reservoir to Dol-y-Gaer. On another day we head to Welshpool, terminus of the Llanfair Light Railway to board our carriage for a superb eight mile journey. We continue to Talyllyn Railway for a spectacular steam train ride to the seaside resort of Tywyn. For our final outing, we snake through the mountains to Devil’s Bridge to board the Vale of Rheidol Railway for the narrow gauge steam train ride to Aberystwyth. Our base is the centrally located Glen Usk Hotel which has a residents’ lounge, sun terrace and an entertainment room with dance floor.
