This refined tour takes in Oxford, Britain’s oldest university city and famous for its heritage and culture along with elegant architecture. Cambridge also boasts University Colleges as well as splendid All Saint’s Church and the neo-gothic Bridge of Sighs. Here we include a guided tour of King’s College’s chapel and grounds. Our final outing is to Royal Windsor where we include entry to the sprawling castle, the oldest and largest occupied castle in the world. Our base is the Aubrey Park Hotel which nestles in woodland near St Albans and has a furnished garden and cocktail bar.

Your Excursions

Perhaps visit one of the university colleges, Oxford Castle, the landmark Bridge of Sighs or the museum that tells the story of Oxford and its people. Take a cruise on the tranquil Thames, trace the steps of Inspector Morse and Harry Potter or explore the city’s Botanic Gardens. Maybe pop into the Old Parsonage Hotel where Oscar Wilde is reported to have stayed.

A must see attraction is King’s College Chapel where we include a guided tour. Other impressive landmarks include the Neo-Gothic Bridge of Sighs, nineteenth century All Saints Church and the Church of the Holy Sepulchre – one of only four round churches in England. Perhaps treat yourself to a chauffeured punt on the River Cam.

Windsor & Windsor Castle

Look forward to a day in Windsor where we include entry to the breathtaking castle – the oldest and largest occupied castle in the world and the Queen’s favourite weekend home. Highlights include the State Apartments – the centrepiece of the castle with their beautifully painted ceilings, fine furnishings and works of art by masters such as Rubens and Van Dyck. Don’t miss the Grand Reception Room with its sparkling chandeliers and gold covered walls. Another must see is St George’s Castle, set within the grounds and one of the finest examples of gothic architecture in England. This striking building houses the tomb of Henry VIII and has been the location of many royal weddings including the marriage of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

Aubrey Park Hotel – St Albans / Hemel Hemstead

The delightful Aubrey Park Hotel nestles amidst verdant woodland near Hemel Hemstead and St Albans. There is a furnished garden and terrace as well as a chic cocktail bar to relax in.
