Call to Book
Thirty miles off the northwest coast of Scotland, the far-flung Outer Hebrides is an idyllic chain of islands on the edge of Europe. This sightseeing holiday showcases the many facets of this paradise of powder white beaches and Atlantic waves, dark moorland, rugged mountains and amazing wildlife. Our sightseeing adventure takes us to South Uist – a relatively large island lying between Barra and Benbecula. We also visit the Isle of Harris with its rich traditions and tiny hamlets then finally the port town of Stornoway, the main settlement on the Isle of Lewis as well as the largest town in the Outer Hebrides.
Your Holiday Itinerary
Day One. We make our way to Oban where we board our ferry to the Outer Hebrides enjoying tea and cake on board. We check into the Dark Island Hotel for our two night stay.
Day Two. Today we enjoy a guided tour of South Uist, second largest of the Outer Hebrides and home to sandy beaches backed by mountain peaks. Landmarks include Ormacleit Castle, a ruined mansion house dating from the early 18th century, the Ushenish Lighthouse and the Kildonan Museum which houses items telling the island’s story.
Day Three. This afternoon we board our ferry to the Isle of Harris and travel along the west coast. We continue to Stornoway on the Isle of Lewis where we check into the Caladh Inn for two nights and a late dinner.
Day Four. Our treat today is a guided tour of the Isle of Lewis, the largest island in the Outer Hebrides and home to craft settlements and the thatched roofed Blackhouse in Arnol as well as the famous standing stones at Callanish.
Day Five. Morning at leisure in Stornoway – perhaps take a stroll around the marina or relax in your hotel and enjoy the views. This afternoon we catch the ferry to Ullapool and enjoy an overnight stay in the north of Scotland.
Day Six. After breakfast we head for home.
