The focal point of this holiday is Ghent’s exhilarating light festival, an event that takes place just once every three years and features the work of international artists showcasing a surprising and ingenious spectacle. We stay at the Leopold Hotel which has a pretty garden edged by a furnished terrace and is located close to Market Square in Oudenaarde – a fine, historic city of art situated on the left bank of the River Scheldt.
Your Holiday Itinerary
Wednesday. We head to Hull for our overnight ferry to the continent enjoying dinner, entertainment and breakfast on board.
Thursday. We travel the short distance to medieval Bruges for free time to perhaps take a canal cruise or a horse-drawn carriage ride. Later, we continue to Oudenaarde and check into our hotel for our two night stay.
Friday. Look forward to a visit to the Museum of Oudenaarde, housed in one of Belgium’s most splendid town halls and where you are taken on a journey through time bringing the history of the region to life through interactive media. An early dinner at your hotel before our trip to Ghent to take in the carefully crafted Light Festival enhancing Ghent’s landmarks with a stunningly atmospheric performance.
Saturday. We stop for some bargain hunting at a hypermarket en route to our ferry back to Hull then enjoy dinner, entertainment and breakfast on board.
Sunday. We journey home.
Overnight Ferry to the Continent
Your holiday moves up a gear when you board your P&O ferry at Hull for your sailing to the continent. drop your overnight bag in your cabin then explore the ship or unwind with an aperitif in one of the bars.
On Board Dining
All GLENTON continental holidays include dinner and breakfast onboard. Head to ‘The Kitchen’ buffet restaurant where your waiter will show you to your table and take your order if you wish to purchase any drinks. Then you’re free to help yourself from the wide selection of tasty dishes from around the world. At breakfast, choose from continental or a fully cooked menu. Alternatively if you fancy treating yourself, why not upgrade to The Brasserie Restaurant and enjoy fine dining with full waiter service?
Make your way to the Show Lounge and enjoy live bands throughout the evening – there’s even a dance floor if you fancy a wee boogie! Or slow the pace down at the Piano Bar where you can sip a cocktail as you listen to mellow music. Perhaps you’d like to catch a blockbuster movie at the cinema or try your luck at the casino.
Your GLENTON continental holiday includes an air conditioned inside en suite cabin with bunk beds. However, you can upgrade to a cabin with level beds and/or sea view for a small supplement. Please ask your holiday advisor when booking.
