Our base is the charming Ramada Resort Grantham, a former farmstead and now a rustic country hotel nestling in the Lincolnshire countryside. Holiday gems include our afternoon in Peterborough after we step back in time to the heyday of train travel when we board our wood panelled carriage for a nostalgic trip aboard the Nene Valley Steam Railway. This historic network has featured in breathtaking stunts in James Bond movies and is the home of Thomas, the wee blue engine named by the Rev. Awdry – author of the Thomas & Friends books. We tuck into a delicious afternoon tea on board, making our evocative train trip even more special. We also spend a day in the cathedral city of Lincoln where you might like to uncover the history of The Jew’s House, and we visit the seaport of Boston on market day.
