Set against a dramatic backdrop of sandstone cliffs, the charming Victorian town of Shanklin features a wide sandy beach lined with traditional beach huts. The bustling esplanade is jam-packed with seaside amusements and cafés. However, if you prefer a quieter time, relax in leafy Rylstone Gardens or visit the unique Shanklin Chine - a stunning gorge with rare plants and a delightful waterfall. Hop aboard the cliff lift to get to the enchanting Old Village with its lovely thatched cottages and check out the programme of events at the bandstand. Stroll along the main shopping centre of Shanklin, one of largest retail areas on the Isle of Wight with various restaurants and cafés or perhaps treat yourself to a holiday momento from one of the gift shops.
