Spain’s magnificent Costa Brava is a spectacular coastal region with pavement cafés, Blue Flag beaches and a palmfringed promenade. This blissful holiday is based in Calella, a tourist hub with golden sands and narrow streets filled with traditional tapas bars, souvenir shops and chic boutiques. Calella’s historic quarter huddles around the church of Santa Maria which features a baroque front flanked by sculptures of the twelve apostles. Our intriguing itinerary includes visits to cultural Girona, pretty Tossa de Mar and optional excursions to cosmopolitan Barcelona and Figueres.

Your Excursions:

Figueres & Besalu
We travel to Figueres where you might like to visit the fascinating Salvador Dali Foundation which houses Dali’s work including drawings, sculptures, jewellery, photography and paintings from different periods of Dali’s life. From here, we make our way to Besalu, a rather grand old town regarded as one of the most beautiful in Spain and accessed via a magnificent eleventh century fortified bridge.

Tossa de Mar
Enjoy a day exploring wonderful Tossa de Mar where the seafront is dominated by a medieval old town with ramparts towering over the beach and narrow streets just waiting to be explored. Relax on the sand or people watch over a glass of wine in a pavement café.

A holiday highlight as we head to beautiful Barcelona, home to Gaudi’s awesome La Sagrada Familia Cathedral. This fine city features a Gothic Quarter with snaking streets, haunting architecture and atmospheric nooks and crannies. Don’t miss Las Ramblas, the city’s vibrant boulevard with street musicians, pavement cafés, flower stalls and a buzzing atmosphere.

We venture off the beaten track to visit Cadaques, a picturesque fishing village protected from mass tourism by a winding road through the mountains of Cap de Creus. The settlement has a bohemian-chic feel to it and has attracted notable visitors as diverse as Picasso and Mick Jagger.

Girona nestles on the banks of the River Onyar and is renowned for its ancient architecture especially it’s walled Old Quarter and the remains of a Roman fortress. Take a stroll along the medieval walls that are flanked by landscaped gardens and feature watchtowers offering glorious views.
