Overview

Set against a dramatic backdrop of sandstone cliffs, the charming Victorian town of Shanklin features a wide sandy beach lined with traditional beach huts. The bustling esplanade is jam-packed with seaside amusements and cafés. However, if you prefer a quieter time, relax in leafy Rylstone Gardens or visit the unique Shanklin Chine – a stunning gorge with rare plants and a delightful waterfall. Hop aboard the cliff lift to get to the enchanting Old Village with its lovely thatched cottages and check out the programme of events at the bandstand. Stroll along the main shopping centre of Shanklin, one of largest retail areas on the Isle of Wight with various restaurants and cafés or perhaps treat yourself to a holiday momento from one of the gift shops. Guests staying at Daish's Hotel on our leisurely pace holiday will enjoy a dinner, bed and breakfast stop in the heart of England on the outward journey.

Your Excursions

Island Highlights
We explore this breathtaking island taking in delightful places such as picture postcard Godshill, Alum Bay, the famous Needles that stretch out to sea and quaint Yarmouth.

Newport
A half day visit to this historic town where the focal point is two elegant squares flanked by Georgian and Victorian architecture. The Museum of Island History, the Roman Villa and the Quay Arts Centre are all within walking distance of its hub.

Ryde
A half day visit to traditional Ryde where you’ll find a sweeping sandy beach, a pleasant esplanade, a pleasure pier and the popular Waltzing Waters attraction (eight day holidays only).

Osborne House
“It is impossible to imagine a prettier spot.” So said Queen Victoria on her first visit to this opulent seaside palace set amidst truly sumptuous gardens. We have access to Victoria and Albert’s private quarters, the State Rooms and the Bathing Machine that preserved her majesty’s modesty (eight day holidays only).

Daish's Hotel - Isle of Wight

This eighteenth century coaching inn stands magnificently on Shanklin’s High Street and retains many charming period features. There is a pleasant coffee shop and a traditional lounge bar with dance floor where entertainment is hosted every evening. Outside you’ll find manicured lawns with picnic tables.
