Overview

The popular resort of Dunoon has lovely bays, pretty gardens, a pleasant promenade and a Victorian pier. Known as the gateway to the Highlands, the town is surrounded by the rolling hills of Argyll Forest Park. From your hotel, you can watch the comings and goings on the busy River Clyde, perhaps you might even spot seals basking on the rocks at low water. Out and about we set sail for the delightful Isle of Bute with its old-fashioned atmosphere. We spend another day on the enchanting Isle of Arran and our final outing cruises us across the water to magical Millport.

Your Excursions

Isle of Bute
We set sail to explore the peaceful island haven of Bute with its heather- clad moorlands, magnificent Esplanade Gardens and splendid architecture. We continue to Rothesay, renowned for its mighty castle, palm trees and promenade as well as a charming old-fashioned atmosphere.

Isle of Arran
We spend a day on the bonnie Isle of Arran, dubbed “Scotland in Miniature” with its mighty mountains, sheltered coves and verdant forests. Perhaps visit Brodick Castle & Gardens, a classic Victorian Highland estate and National Trust property that houses an impressive collection of fine furniture, art work and sporting trophies.

Isle of Millport
We sail to magical Millport which curves around a sandy bay backed by a seafront promenade. This quirky town is home to Britain’s smallest cathedral whilst its Garrison House is an eye-catching Gothic building and home to the Museum of the Cumbraes where you’ll find ancient archaeological exhibits. Be sure to snap a photo of Millport’s famous crocodile!

Selborne Hotel - Dunoon
