Overview

Thirty miles off the northwest coast of Scotland, the Outer Hebrides is an idyllic chain of islands on the edge of Europe. This sightseeing holiday showcases the many facets of this paradise of powder white beaches and Atlantic waves, dark moorland, rugged mountains and amazing wildlife.

Your Holiday Itinerary

Day One. We make our way to Oban where we board the ferry to Castlebay, Barra, enjoying tea and cake on board. We check into the Isle of Barra Beach Hotel for the first of two nights.

Day Two. Today we enjoy a guided tour of beautiful Barra, the most southerly of the inhabited Hebridean Isles and home to one of the most unusual airports in the world.

Day Three. We sail from Barra to the island of Eriskay from where we take the causeway to South Uist, home to sandy beaches and mountain peaks. Another causeway connects to Benbecula and onward to North Uist. We then board the afternoon ferry to the Isle of Harris and travel along the west coast. We continue to Stornoway on the Isle of Lewis where we check into the Caladh Inn before a late dinner.

Day Four. Our treat today is a guided tour of the Isle of Lewis, the largest island in the Outer Hebrides and home to craft settlements and the thatched roofed Blackhouse in Arnol as well as the famous standing stones at Calanais.

Day Five. Morning at leisure in Stornoway – perhaps take a stroll around the marina or relax in your hotel and enjoy the views. This afternoon we catch the ferry to Ullapool and enjoy an overnight stay in the north of Scotland.

Day Six. After breakfast we head for home.
