With its hidden treasures such as the thirteenth century gallery of two-tiered half-timbered shops known as The Rows, charming Chester never fails to delight. The old City Walls offer a two mile stroll giving a bird’s eye view of the city centre and the River Dee. We include a guided tour of the cathedral, a beautiful building that began life as a Saxon Minster. A special treat is our visit to view the Terracotta Army. These life sized warriors guarded the tomb of China’s First emperor Qin Shi Huang for over two thousand years until a chance discovery in 1974. This unmissable exhibition shows how the Emperor pursued immortality and prepared for the afterlife.
