||Hallmark Hotel Irvine
Scotland boasts stunning scenery and some of its finest seascapes grace the awesome Ayrshire coast. Our base, the coastal town of Irvine, has a fascinating maritime museum and a stretch of sandy beach with views of Ailsa Craig. We spend a day on the bonnie Isle of Arran, dubbed “Scotland in Miniature” as it crams the best of the mainland into an area just twenty miles long and ten miles wide. Here we visit the impressive Highland estate of Brodick Castle & Gardens. We also explore Dumfries & Galloway’s Drumlanrig Castle, a majestic fortress standing proudly in the sprawling Queensberry Estate. Our final treat is a visit to Turnberry, home to an iconic golf course.
Isle of Arran & Brodick Castle & Gardens
We head to Arran, the gem of the Firth of Clyde, where you’ll find an everchanging coastline, mighty mountains, sheltered coves and verdant forests. We continue to Brodick Castle & Gardens, a classic Victorian Highland estate and National Trust property that stands dramatically against the backdrop of Goat Fell Mountain.
Drumlanrig Castle & Turnberry
Our treat today is Drumlanrig Castle, home to the Duke & Duchess of Buccleuch. This Renaissance, romantic house stands within the Queensberry Estate edged by Victorian gardens. Within its walls you’ll find magnificent rooms bedecked with silverware, porcelain and art including Rembrandt’s “Old Lady Reading”. Later, we call at the tiny village of Turnberry, home to championship golf course, the Turnberry Lighthouse built in 1873 and ruins of Turnberry Castle.
Hallmark Hotel - Irvine
The four star Hallmark Hotel nestles in landscaped grounds on the outskirts of Irvine and has spacious guest lounges, a traditional bar and a stylish restaurant. Bedrooms are spacious and well-appointed.
