We head to Settle where we join the train for our journey on England’s most scenic railway line to Carlisle. Upon arrival there is free time before checking into the Crown & Mitre Hotel, a centrally located Edwardian Hotel with beautiful original features. We return on Monday via the Lake District, calling in at Bowness-on-Windermere a sprawling tourist town on the shores of Lake Windermere.
Centrally situated in the hub of Carlisle, the Crown and Mitre Hotel has a striking facade and retains much of its Edwadian charm alongside modern comforts. There is a sweeping staircase, open fireplace and cosy bar as well as a superb swimming pool and jacuzzi.
