British Breaks Booming

Last year saw a boost in domestic holidays, with over 33 million trips taken and Britons holidaying at home spending a record £7.9 billion. Indeed, the UK looks set to be the most popular destination overall for holidays in 2018 with two-thirds planning a UK break, according to ABTA research. Perks of holidaying in the UK include no language diffculties, not having to buy foreign currencies and avoiding that awkward moment when you fnd out your credit card doesn’t work! What’s more, Britain is brimming with historic cities, iconic landmarks, beautiful coastline,
leafy countryside and award winning attractions. Highlights include Liverpool, currently marking ten years since it was European Capital of Culture with a programme of events including the world-famous Terracotta Warriors at the city’s World Museum. In Manchester, the People’s History Museum will mark the 100th anniversary of women getting the right to vote by dedicating part of its 2018 programme to the suffragette movement. Away from the cities, the simply stunning Lake District was recently announced as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and hotspots like Lake Windermere are sure to rise in popularity
